Nar and Phu Valley

A trek to the valleys of Nar and Phu is definitely a must. It is the ultimate destination for those looking for authenticity and can take a beating. You explore the remote, rough valleys of Nar and Phu. This region has only been open to tourists since 2003.

The first 4 days are gradually climbing via the Annapurna Circuit route to Koto. There you leave the route and through forests, rock paths, cliffs, villages and countless Buddhist chortens all the way to the valleys of Nar and Phu, both villages situated at an altitude of 4000m. It is an adventurous trek where an acquaintance with "the real Nepal" is assured. The crossing of the Kangla pass (5320m) makes it completely "finished".

There will be lodges in trekkers with minimum comfort and 1 night in a Buddhist monastery. Experience in mountain hiking is not required, but good health and fitness is necessary. The trek can be shortened by 3 to 5 days. This trek can be done from mid-March and until the end of October. From November some places (and lodges) are closed for the winter. Because this trek is partly located in the rain shadow of the Himalayas, it is an excellent choice during the summer months.
